How to press a DTF transfer
These are typical settings. If the instruction card in your order says something different, follow the card.
- Heat your press to 300 to 320 F for cotton and blends. For polyester, use 270 to 285 F.
- Pre-press the garment for 3 to 5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
- Place the transfer print side down, film side up.
- Press with medium to firm pressure for 10 to 15 seconds.
- Peel the film as directed on your instruction card. If any part of the print lifts, lay the film back down and press again for a few seconds.
- Cover the print with parchment paper and press again for 5 to 10 seconds to lock it in.
Care
Wait 24 hours before washing. Wash inside out in cold water, tumble dry low or hang dry, and do not iron directly on the print.
Tips
- A home iron does not hold even heat or pressure. Use a heat press.
- Test on a scrap garment first if the fabric is new to you.
- Store unused transfers flat, in a cool dry place.
